Attending the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon is the pinnacle of any avid tennis fans dream. The oldest tennis tournament and the only major played on grass, Wimbledons intimate and exclusive venue makes it the most prestigious Grand Slam on the tennis calendar. So why not make it the trip of a lifetime? Grand Slam Tennis Tours takes the headache out of trip planning. Their Luxury Wimbledon Tennis Travel Packages include accommodations at amazing hotels in Central London, escorted transportation to and from the All England Club, the best tickets, and 12-hour-a-day access to their fully catered hospitality house directly adjacent to the grounds in SW19. Not enough?

Wimbledon is rich with tradition and some pretty good tennis too! Of the four Grand Slams, Wimbledon is the only tournament that is still played on a natural surface. The US Open, Australian Open, and French Open have all opted for either hard or clay courts, although their beginnings were on grass, giving the game its original name of lawn tennis.

Not only do tennis fanatics eagerly await for the action to unfold (sometimes even queuing overnight to get tickets), but the players love this event, which takes place the last week in June and first week of July. Martina Navratilova, one of the greatest women players, says it best. Wimbledon is like a drug. Once you win it for the first time you feel youve just got to do it again and again and again…

Even with the many changes that have taken place over the years, including the 84 million pound roof over Centre Court, tradition sets this Grand Slam apart from the rest. Wimbledon still adheres to the strict all-white dress code for competitors, while other tournaments have no color restrictions. British Royalty often make an appearance at the matches and strawberries and cream are still a staple of the viewers.

One tradition that hasn’t been set and much to the dismay of the British is a home champion. The last British woman to capture the singles title at Wimbledon was Virginia Wade in 1977 and the last British man was Fred Perry in 1936. But with Andy Murray rested up from skipping this year’s Roland Garros due to a back injury and just winning the Queen’s Club title, maybe it’s finally time for a Brit to hoist the trophy!

Wimbledon has also been home to countless memorable matches over the years. Just in length, the match between American John Isner and Frechman Nicolas Mahut lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes, the 5th set ending in 70-68! Just last year Nadal lost to Rosol in five sets, his earliest Grand Slam exit since 2005. And of course 2009′s final where Roger Federer only broke Andy Roddick once in 77 games to win 16-14 in the 5th set, capturing his 15th Grand Slam title to eclipse Pete Samprass on the all-time Slam list.

Travel with Grand Slam Tennis Tours to get the royal treatment; access to our private hospitality house steps away from The All England Club, fantastic seats for Center Court and/or Court No. 1, a chance to play tennis at The Wimbledon Club, and so much more. Stay at our hotels located near all the action in central London and take a day trip to some of the many historic landmarks around England.
